Peace through music. It can be done. It will be done.
Greg Spero played at Close Up 2 (this past February 2010) and it was packed from the front of the club to the back of the club with people of all different races, religions, and backgrounds, together to experience the expression of our humanity that we call music.
There is so much tearing the world apart right now. Oil spills (much more than just the one you know about), genocide, slavery (yes, it still exists all over the world), the military industrial complex, and the monetary system that is leaching money out of the masses, causing the poverty that we see around the globe and in our own backyard.

All these things have a common thread.

They are all unconditionally caused by our tendency to gain more for the self, regardless of how it effects those around us.
They are based in a lack of understanding of the fundamental connection between all people.
They are based in the lack of understanding that you are the same as me, and that every moment of your life is just as important as every moment of my life.
Imagine what the world would be like if all the oil tycoons, world leaders, and influential figures realized the true value and importance in every moment of every person’s life on this earth…
It will happen.
And it begins with you, and me.

Greg Spero has been writing compositions about this search, about this quest. They are instrumental works, which incorporate some recorded speech, all performed in a contemporary jazz setting that incorporates funk, R&B, and hip-hop.
There will also have a special guest appearance at the Friday show from singer songwriter Anna Fleischer, with whom you are sure to fall in love
.
So come together and celebrate. Put down all your baggage, leave everything that brings you down on a day-to-day basis, and come out to immerse yourself in the one thing that is truly important in this world – our ability to experience all the moments of life, together, as one, in harmony .
