The Blue Room Cafe & Paul Henry’s Art Gallery
present their 1st Annual Downtown Hammond Summer Music & Art Fest!
Beginning Saturday, June 26, 2010 from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm on the corner of Hohman Avenue & Fayette Street in downtown Hammond, IN, over 15 musical guests will perform throughout the day and evening including Nicole Jamrose, Lynxwail, Joshua McCormack, John Vezmar, Dean Milano, Marc Adrian & The Liars, Fruteland Jackson, Krystal Kadar, Spoo Willoughby, Bob Baldwin (from Musical Saw), and Zebulun Barnow (guitarist for the Blue Man Group)!
Nicole Jamrose has that voice that draws everyone in, she has that elusive quality that cannot be taught but is something you are born with. Her voice has been called a perfect mix of whiskey and honey. She can sing a sweet love song, growl her way through the blues and do it all like it was meant to be done. Nicole’s musical style evolved from her diverse musical background, which blends rock, pop, blues, and soul. Her influences range from Aretha Franklin and Bonnie Raitt to Pink and Sheryl Crow. She has shared the stage with such international acts as Victor Wooten, bass virtuoso of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Nil Lara, Live, Phil Vassar, Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, Randy Travis, and Randy Owen. Nicole is what they call "the real deal".
In 2006, Jamrose achieved her most notable accomplishment to date when she beat out more than 20,000 contestants to earn one of 10 coveted spots on the popular USA Network television show Nashville Star. Nicole won the leading spot as the last-standing female contestant. A viewer base of more than 2 million voted her third in the competition, which earned her a spot on the 2006 Nashville Star Tour.
As much as Jamrose loved country music, she knew her true passion had been formed in her roots of Rock, Pop, and Soul. She headed back to her hometown of Indiana, put a new band together, and began to write the songs that reflected all of her musical influences.
Nicole brought together 4 of the most sought after musicians in the Chicago / Northwest Indiana area to form the band Jamrose. She found 4 very accomplished musicians and put an emphasis on vocal harmonies. The result was a band with a very vibey sound with great vocals.
The Independent release of Jamrose’s first CD "U-Turn" is a reflection of Nicole’s musical passions and a great group of musicians, Nicole now resides in Northwest Indiana and can be found at local music venues around Northwest Indiana and the Chicagoland area.
